Research shows that American men prefer women with a waist-to-hip ratio (WHR) of .68, which just so happens to be the average WHR of Playboy centerfolds.

Studies show that women with WHR of .70 or smaller are also at less risk of heart disease and may even give birth the healthier, smarter children. (I’m not sure I buy this. I think it, as usual, has more to do with socioeconomic status.)

My WHR is .67, you can find yours here.

This is absolutley hilarious. I could see myself forcing my friends to do something similar at my own wedding.

So I was trying to find some hiking information and stumbled upon some great teacher resources!

Teachers who participate in TTEC develop their own curriculum that increases student literacy skills and fosters student understanding of, and appreciation for, the public lands connected by the 2,175 miles of the Appalachian Trail. These curricula integrate hands-on study of the natural and cultural resources of communities from Georgia to Maine, addressing concepts in ecology, sense of place, recreation, volunteerism and civics.

I like to find out more information on how to participate in this program. It seems more geared towards the science classroom, but I could definately see ways to interject place-based education into the ELA classroom.

I’d spend more time researching this…but I need to get on my way to Red Top Mountain before it gets too hot!

Check out these links as well as the links on my hiking page and let me know what you think. How would you incorporate this into the classroom?
